“Sometimes you write just to feel your fingers moving”
Richard Wagamese
Dear Soul Friends,
I hope your days are sunny and bright! It feels like the weather wants to make up for all these rainy days in January and February - the sun is showing her face every day now. The air is still crisp, especially in the mornings, but those spots the sun rests her gaze upon warm up fairly quickly.
The past days I have been quite tender, and sitting in the sun, letting my back be warmed, felt like a giant universal hug. I could feel my muscles relaxing and automatically breathed deeper. This morning, I turned towards poetry for a prayer. I believe a prayer written in poetic words becomes a sacred spell, and carries immense power. How do we write a poetry prayer? Many prayers can be read as poems, think of St. Francis of Assisi’s “Make me an instrument of your peace”, and many poems can be read as prayers, for example my poem “Remedy”. In a prayer, we address a certain person, deity or energy. Mostly, our words are asking for something like forgiveness, redemption, strength, courage, Love. A poetry prayer is a powerful tool to surrender, to let go and give up control. Whenever I feel my ego is gripping hard, I write a poetry prayer. I’ve decided to share my piece/peace from this morning with you. Sharing is an important part of poetry and of our lives. We never know who might need our words just now.
A Prayer To Love
Love
come
sit at my side
put your arms
around my shoulders
help me breathe in
this brand new day
Love
come
sit right next to me
wrap me in your warmth
in soft and gentle manner
help me to be grounded
on all my ways
Love
come
sit and stay at my side
hold my hand and squeeze her tightly
while fingertips taste morning dew
help me to be myself
while I live through you
Sadhbh AdameaI find the sun a beautiful analogy for Love. Warm but grey summer days show us that the sun is not directly responsible for the air temperature. A lot of different things cause the air to warm up. We all are responsible for letting the energy of Love flow through us. While Love certainly can shine her light on us, we need to make sure to remember we are part of her greatness. We can’t find Love outside of us, because Love is who we are. So whenever we are in need of Love, we need to find her within ourselves. Self-Love is not a destiny, but a practice. Every single day.
Have a beautiful day!
Lots of Love,
Always feel free to reach out if you need a helping hand, a kind word, encouraging conversation or simply someone who listens!

I love this poem and the idea that poetry is a prayer. And how wonderful that when we struggle to pray we can lean into the beautiful prayers/poems written by others, until we find our own way back to poetry/prayer.
What a gorgeous poem 🩵🪔🍃✨️
